spring wishes

i've been wanting a new leather bag for spring / summer, but i've been really hoping to find something super clean and minimally designed...

i've checked all of the usual suspects, and haven't found a style that i'm really excited by.

and then, somehow i stumbled on to what i think is just the right thing, in quite a surprising place:

yes, the company that started out making durable bags for carrying groceries is now using leather to make really simple, basic..... perfect summer bags!

i really want a white or off-white leather bag, but i'm not sure this is the right style for it. i'm afraid it will just get totally trashed.

i'm thinking about the apricot color..... although that mint color is kind of tempting, huh?

indian summer

we are having 80 degree weather in nyc right now.

although many of my city's residents are reveling in this indian summer, i can't help but admit that i am disappointed.

i want to be posting about nubby sweaters, leather boots and corduroys.

however, when i wore corduroys to brunch on saturday, i almost melted from heat stroke.

if any of you in the far off reaches of the world can send us some fall weather..... i'll be more more prolific in my writing about fall style.

in the meantime, i'll be sweaty and cranky.

summer vacation

yesterday, a young friend came to my house for a visit.

her mom and i started to talk about "grown up" stuff, so we set her up watching some tv stuff, using my headphones.

she wasn't really excited about the photos i took of her, but i just couldn't resist.

it totally made me think of those boring days of mid-summer, when the shine of freedom has worn off, and there isn't much to look forward to, other than the next heat wave....

by the way- she made her dress herself. by hand.

the kid has a glorious future (in fashion?).
